Develops and executes integrated communications strategies for government clients in the Middle East, with a focus on national industrial policy and crisis communications

James is a Director at Finsbury Glover Hering’s Middle East offices. James has nearly 15 fifteen years’ communications experience spanning frontline politics in the UK, and government diplomacy and advocacy in the Middle East. 
James’ broad experience of government communications, advocacy and diplomacy is put to use in the Middle East across a range of government and non-government clients to help them successfully communicate and implement their policy and business objectives. 
James’ journey to Finsbury Glover Hering’s Dubai practice began in 2008 where he spent five years as an aid to a former UK minister of state, before he departed for the Middle East in 2012 to work as a diplomat with the United Nations. Here, he specialised on engaging non-Western governments to mobilise their political and financial resources to alleviate some of the world’s most intractable conflicts. In 2018, he moved over to Iraq as an Advocacy Advisor with a focus on crisis communications and policy advocacy with governments and non-state actors across the country.
James has broad regional experience in international relations, policy development, and crisis communications with multiple international partners and is based between Riyadh and Dubai.

James’ previous work covered frontline politics in the UK for a former Minister of state, and as a United Nations diplomat in the Middle East.

James is endlessly fascinated by the cut-and-thrust of international relations and macro-economics, and how actors can successfully mobilise the zeitgeist
