Melanie Grayce West is a Managing Director for Finsbury Glover Hering’s Health team based in the firm's NY office. She provides communications counsel and support to a variety of health clients, including expertise in message development and delivery, executive positioning and issue management. 

Melanie joined Finsbury Glover Hering after 15 years reporting for The Wall Street Journal. An experienced health and metro reporter, she led coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic from the first case in New York, to the first vaccination and the reopening of the country. She has an expertise in front-page breaking news and has covered social issues, politics and philanthropy during her reporting career. 

An enthusiastic collaborator and listener, Melanie uses the skills of a journalist to craft compelling storylines and find unique perspectives on any subject, while using newsroom experience to navigate clients through media engagements. She has extensive experience in New York City media and in developing relationships with executives and board members across a variety of industries. 

Before becoming a journalist, Melanie was a major gifts fundraiser for a prominent political action committee and several non-profits based in Washington, D.C. 

Melanie earned a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University in New York City and received a BA in Government from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. A Houston native, Melanie resides in New York City with her husband and two children.
