After over 26 ½ years on Capitol Hill – with the last 16 ½ years working in the House Republican Leadership – Brian Gaston joined Finsbury Glover Hering as a Managing Director in the firm’s Government Affairs Division. Brian provides strategic, legislative and political advice to clients seeking to advance their legislative objectives on Capitol Hill. Brian works on a range of clients involved in telecommunications, broadcasting, privacy, health care and financial services.

Prior to joining the firm, Brian worked in the House Republican Leadership crafting and implementing legislative and political strategy. He was Chief of Staff to Republican Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO), then served as Blunt’s leadership advisor where he managed Blunt’s role as chair of the House Republican Health Care Solutions Group. Prior to that role, Brian was Policy Director to House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX), and also Policy Director to House Republican Conference Chairman John Boehner (R-OH). In his policy positions to Blunt, Armey and Boehner, Brian handled tax, trade, economic, budget, financial services, immigration and labor issues.

Brian started his Hill career in 1984 as a legislative correspondent for Senator Charles Percy (R-IL). He then was an LA and then LD for Congressman Harris Fawell (R-IL), handling Fawell’s work on the House Education and Labor Committee. He then served four years as the Washington Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Jan Meyers (R-KS).

Brian graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Services with a degree in International Economics. He is a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C. and resides in Old Town Alexandria, VA.
